What We Do

A Therapy Practice for People Ready to Do Something Different
Anel Lee & Associates is a trauma-informed therapy practice.
We work with adults who have been holding it together for a long time and are ready to stop just getting through the day.
We see clients in person at our Norwalk office and online throughout California, in English and Spanish.
We are a growing team of therapists who share one belief: with the right support, people can change their lives. We have seen it, and we have lived it ourselves.
This page walks you through who we help, how we work, and what changes when you do.
The People We Work With
Most of our clients don’t come in at the first sign of pain.
They come in after years of outrunning it on their own.
Something finally cracks – a relationship ends, an old wound reopens, or the exhaustion of performing okayness catches up with them.
On the outside, they look fine. They show up to work, to their relationships, to their lives.
Underneath, something is always running in the background: the loop that won’t quiet down, the fear that if people really knew what was going on inside, they’d see someone very different from who they think they know.
If that sounds familiar, you’re in the right place.
We work with people carrying trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and the kind of pain that doesn’t always have a name.

How We Help
Most people who try to heal on their own do it by talking about what happened – replaying it, retelling it, trying to make sense of it.
That brings some relief. It rarely gets to the root.
Trauma doesn’t just live in your memories. It lives in your nervous system, in your automatic reactions, in the beliefs you formed about yourself when something happened that you had no way to process.
Our work goes deeper than the story. We draw on three evidence-based methods, chosen for what you need:
- CBT helps you identify and challenge the beliefs formed in the wake of what happened – the ones that say it was your fault, that you’re not safe, that you don’t deserve more.
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps your brain reprocess painful memories so they stop hijacking your present.
- Mindfulness-based work helps you reconnect with your body and stay present, even when things get hard.
This is not surface-level work. It’s not coping strategies handed to you in a pamphlet.
It’s real, honest therapy that moves at a pace that respects where you are while still challenging you to grow.
What We Help You Work Through
We focus on the areas where our team is most experienced:
- Trauma recovery – including sexual assault, domestic violence, and childhood abuse
- Anxiety and depression – the everyday weight, and the lifetime struggles
- Self-esteem – quieting the inner critic and learning to trust yourself again
- Life transitions, grief, and identity – finding your footing when things shift
We provide individual therapy for adults, and Daniel also works with adolescents. We do not offer couples therapy – our work is one-on-one, focused entirely on you.
Who You’ll Work With
Anel Lee, LCSW, is the founder of the practice and a trauma specialist. A second-generation Mexican-American and a certified Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Advocate, she understands the cultural layers that can make asking for help feel complicated.
Daniel, ASW, is trained in EMDR through an EMDRIA-approved program and works from a strengths-based, warm, and grounded approach with adolescents and adults.
Both of us bring clinical training and lived experience to this work. We are not reading about trauma from a textbook – we have done our own work.
Many of our clients grew up hearing that asking for help meant you were weak, that you just push through. We factor that in, and we work with the whole person, not just the presenting problem.
What Changes
A few months from now, life can look different.
You wake up, and dread isn’t the first thing you feel.
The loop in your head gets quieter. The shame loses its grip.
You move through hard moments without being swallowed by them.
You start to trust yourself again – to make decisions without second-guessing, to stop abandoning yourself when things get hard.
Not a perfect life. A different one, in the ways that matter.
